A collaborative effort with writer Theresa Cottone, this book tells the story of a parent and child cooking together. Inspired by the writer’s son, who loves muffins but doesn’t like to wait. While the concept began with Theresa’s experience, the visual experience of the book was developed in collaboration with her, incorporating the fantasy and folkloric elements, such as Kolobok the living dough-ball of Slavic children’s stories, that drew Theresa to my work. In addition to the book itself, we also produced a coloring and activity book featuring the characters and elements of the story. I designed and laid out the entirety of both books digitally, which have been self-published and independently distributed by myself and Theresa.
